Saskatchewan Environment

Ed Dean obtained his MSc in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Guelph in 1972 and has been working with Saskatchewan Environment for the past 33 years.

Ed started working with the province at the Fisheries Research Laboratory in Saskatoon in 1973 and 12 years later moved to Prince Albert to take over the newly-formed Fish Enhancement Program. As Fish Enhancement Coordinator, he worked with conservation groups and other agencies to develop over 100 fisheries projects to improve fish habitat and increase fish populations. In 1993 he moved to Regina to manage Policy and Programs in Fisheries Branch.

In 1996 he represented Saskatchewan Environment on the provincial committee to develop a Water Management Framework. In 1999 the Framework was released the publicly by the government of Saskatchewan.

For the last 10 years Ed has been working in climate change and represented the province at Federal/Provincial/Territorial meetings to develop national and provincial climate change strategies. Ed is currently the Climate Change Coordinator for Saskatchewan Environment.
